OPERATION

Bundles of bushy metal turnings (swarf) are fed to the feed hopper (1). Crusher performance is best when a full load of turnings is maintained above the tapered crushing chamber (2). The revolving feeder arm (3) fitted with a hardened steel cutter draws turnings downward into the chamber in a spiral like motion. During this circular sweeping process, stringy metal turnings are shredded by the interaction of the rotating feeder arm blade and several replaceable cutter blades (4) which are bolted to the upper crushing chamber. Final crushing (shredding) takes place in the lower throat zone where a rotating cutter head (5) works together with a stationary crushing ring (6) to produce the desired chip product for discharge through chute (7). The operation of the crusher is normally controlled with the use of a feed lever sensor fitted to the upper hopper. If the load level in the hopper drops, the crusher stops automatically until the hopper is recharged.

Capacities

600 lbs/hr to 15,000 lbs/hr
270 kg/hr to  6,800 kg/hr

CHOICE OF CUTTING/CRUSHING TOOLS

The crusher may be fitted with fine or coarse crushing tools, depending upon the physical characteristics of the metal turnings to be crushed.

BAR END REJECTER

The bar end rejecter is a most beneficial option with selected Arboga crusher models. If the crusher becomes jammed with a bar end, tool, or other solid object, the rotating crushing assembly stops automatically, reverses direction, after which, one segment of the crushing ring (6) is automatically drawn outward by cylinder actuator (8), thereby creating an enlarged opening through which the solid object can pass to the discharge chute (7). Immediately afterwards, the crushing ring segment is automatically reseated and the crusher restarts for normal operation. If the solid object is so large that it cannot pass, and jams, the crusher automatically stops and the solid may then be removed through the crusher access hatch (9).
